Mumbai: Former India offspinner Ashish Kapur will replace former fast bowler Venkatesh Prasad in the junior selection committee of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The BCCI issued a statement on Tuesday and informed about this.
In this three-member committee, two other members are Gyanendra Pandey and Rakesh Parikh. Prasad used to be the chairman of the junior selection committee. He recently accepted the Indian Premier League (IPL) team's bowling coach Kings XI Punjab and for this reason he resigned from his post.
The BCCI has said in the statement, "Ashish will replace Venkatesh Prasad in the three-member junior selection committee."
The team that won the Indian Under-19 World Cup was selected as the President of Prasad. Ashish has played four Tests and 17 ODIs for India. He was part of the Indian team in the 1996 World Cup.
