In the first match of the ICC World Cup qualifiers, Scotland defeated Afghanistan by seven wickets in the first match. After losing the toss and going to bat first, the Afghanistan team gave Scotland a target of 256 runs. The Scotland team achieved this target with three wickets in 47.2 overs thanks to the impressive innings of 157 not out by Kalm McLeod.

Earlier Afghanistan had a very bad start. Opener batsman Ehsanullah opened the account without leaving the pavilion. Scotland bowlers continued their havoc after this, and four Afghanistan batsmen were dismissed at the total of 71.
Mohammed Nabi (92) and Najibullah Jadran (67) shared a valuable partnership of 149 for the fifth wicket. However, after the return of pavilion of Jadaran, none of Afghanistan's batsmen could play Tic and the whole team was all out in 25.4 in 49.4 overs.
For Scotland, Brad Wheel and Richie Barrington took 3-3 wickets while Safyan Sharif got two wickets.
Scotland's start to chase the target given by Afghanistan was also poor start and the team lost two wickets at the total of 21 runs.
After this, there was a big partnership of 208 between Calum MacLeod (unbeaten 157) and Richie Barrington (67) for the third wicket, and Scotland took the match from seven wickets.
Mujib ur Rahman took two wickets for Afghanistan. McCullum was adjudged Man of the Match for his fantastic innings.
