Colombo: Indian cricket team R. R. thanks to the best personal shift of opener Shikhar Dhawan (90) In the first match of the Nidas Trophy T-20 triangular series, which was released on Tuesday at Premadasa Stadium, the challenge of the hosts is 175 runs against Sri Lanka. While batting first after losing the toss, the team scored 174 runs for five wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Dhawan hit six fours and six sixes in 49 balls.
India lost the wickets of their captain Rohit Sharma (0) and Suresh Raina (1) at the total of nine runs at one time. Sharma was caught by Dushmanth Chaimira at Life Mendis. At that time only one run was added to India's account.
Naveen Pradeep, who has come to replace Rohit, has been working on the totals of nine. Raina faced three balls.
After this, Dhawan shared a 95-run partnership for the third wicket with Manish Pandey (37) and not only brought the team out of the crisis but also scored good scores.
Pandey was dismissed on the ball of Mendis on the total of 104 runs. Pandey faced 35 balls and hit three fours and a six.
Even after this Dhawan's smoky shield continued. Dhawan completed 50 runs in 30 balls and then crossed his best personal total (80). It seemed as if Dhawan would take his first T20 International century but in the last ball of the 18th over, he was trapped in the hands of Thesara Pereira in an attempt to send a six off the ball to Gunushilaka.
Prior to the dismissal, Dhawan shared a 49-run partnership with Rishabh Pant (23) for the fourth wicket.
After Dhawan's departure, wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik (13 not out) gave good support to Pant and played in a demoralized manner and took the score to 174 runs. Pant hit a six off 21 balls while Karthik hit two fours in six balls.
On behalf of Sri Lanka, Chamira has taken two wickets.
For this series, India has given rest to regular captain Virat Kohli, wicketkeeper batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni, bowlers Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jaspreet Bumrah. Vijay Shankar made the T20 debut with this match.
